জ্ঞানবিস্তারে অনুবাদের প্রয়োজনীয়তা অপরিসীম। অনুবাদের সাহায্যেই পৃথিবীর বিজ্ঞান-সাহিত্য-সংস্কৃতি-শিল্পকলা সম্পর্কে
সাধারণ পাঠক জ্ঞান লাভ করতে পারে। অনুবাদ হলো কোনো বক্তব্য বা রচনাকে এক ভাষা থেকে অন্য ভাষায় রূপান্তরিত
করা। কোনো রচনার বক্তব্য বিষয়কে পরিবর্তন না করে শুধু ভাষার পরিবর্তনকেই অনুবাদ বলা হয়। কোনো ভাষার সমৃদ্ধি
সাধনে ও বিশ্বসাহিত্যের ক্ষেত্রে অনুবাদের ভূমিকা অনস্বীকার্য।
অনুবাদ হলো কোনো বক্তব্য বা রচনাকে এক ভাষা থেকে অন্য ভাষায় রূপান্তরিত করা। কোনো রচনার
বক্তব্য বিষয়কে পরিবর্তন না করে শুধু ভাষার পরিবর্তনকেই অনুবাদ বলা হয়।
বিশ্বের অগণিত ভাষায় যে বিপুল জ্ঞানচর্চা হচ্ছে, শিল্প-সাহিত্য-বিজ্ঞান-দর্শন-সমাজতত্ত¡-নৃতত্ত¡ এবং মানববিদ্যার যে কোনো
বিষয় নিয়ে জ্ঞানের যে প্রবাহ বিকাশ লাভ করছে তা সারাবিশ্বের মানুষের কাছে পৌঁছানোর অন্যতম উপায় হল অনুবাদ।
অনুবাদের গুরুত্বের কারণে বিভিন্ন সাহিত্যে অনুবাদ নামক বিশেষ এক শাখা গড়ে উঠেছে। অনুবাদের দ্বারা পরস্পরের ভাষা
সমৃদ্ধ হয়ে ওঠে।
অনুবাদের শ্রেণিবিভাগ
অনুবাদ কাজকে দ্ইু ভাগে ভাগকরা যায়। যেমন :
ক) আক্ষরিক অনুবাদ
খ) ভাবানুবাদ
মূল ভাষার প্রতিটি শব্দের প্রতিশব্দ ব্যবহার করে যে অনুবাদ করা হয় তাকে আক্ষরিক অনুবাদ বলা হয়। আক্ষরিক অনুবাদে
ভাবার্থের দিকে দৃষ্টি দেয়া হয় না। ‘গধহু সবহ সধহু সরহফ’এই বাক্যের অর্থ যদি করা হয় ‘অনেক মানুষ অনেক মন’--
তাহলে তাকে আক্ষরিক অনুবাদ বলা যায়।
মূল ভাষার ভাব ঠিক রেখে সুবিধামত নিজের ভাষায় বক্তব্য প্রকাশ করাকে ভাবানুবাদ বলা হয়। ভাবানুবাদে মূল রচনার
প্রতিটি শব্দের অনুবাদ করা হয় না। ‘গধহু সবহ সধহু সরহফ’এই বাক্যের অর্থ যদি করা হয় ‘নানা মুনির নানা মত’Ñ
তাহলে তাকে ভাবানুবাদ বলা যায়।

মুক্ত। তাই জ্ঞানার্জনের স্বাভাবিক কর্তব্যের বাইরে তারা সমাজসেবায় নিজেদের সহজে নিয়োজিত করতে পারে।

প্রতিপালন করেন। বয়স বৃদ্ধির সাথে সাথে আমাদের আশেপাশের সকলেরই সাহায্য আমাদের প্রয়োজন হয়।
৩.Our country is very fertile. On the plains of this country grow crops of various kinds. Paddy and
wheat are our staple food. Jute grows abundantly in Bangladesh. Jute is sold to the different
countries. So jute is rightly called the `golden fibre’
অনুবাদ : আমাদের দেশ অত্যন্ত উর্বর। এদেশের সমতল ভূমিতে বিভিন্ন প্রকার শস্য জন্মে। আমাদের প্রধান খাদ্যশস্য
ধান ও গম। বাংলাদেশে প্রচুর পরিমাণে পাট উৎপন্ন হয়। পাট বিভিন্ন দেশে বিক্রি করা হয়। পাটকে তাই যথার্থই
সোনালি আঁশ বলা হয়।
৪. A good teacher is one of the most important people in any country. Bangladesh needs good teachers.
A good teacher makes lesson interesting. She keeps pupils and students awake.
অনুবাদ : যে কোনো দেশে একজন ভাল শিক্ষক গুরুত্বপূর্ণ লোকদের অন্যতম। বাংলাদেশে ভাল শিক্ষকের প্রয়োজন।
একজন ভাল শিক্ষক পাঠদানকে আনন্দদায়ক করে তোলেন। তিনি ছাত্রদের সতর্ক রাখেন।
৫. . Early rising is beneficial to health. The boy who rises early can enjoy the fine air of the morning. He
can take a walk by the river side or in the open field. He can enjoy the sweet songs of the birds.
অনুবাদ : সকালে ওঠা স্বাস্থ্যের জন্য কল্যাণকর। যে বালক সকালে উঠে সে সকালের চমৎকার বাতাস উপভোগ করে।
সে নদীর ধারে বা খোলা মাঠে বেড়াতে পারে। সে পাখির মধুর গান শুনতে পারে।
৬. A newspaper is a storehouse of knowledge.We can know the conditions of other countries from a
newspaper. It is, in fact, the summary of all current history. In this scientific age the world without
newspaper is unthinkable.
অনুবাদ : সংবাদপত্র হলো জ্ঞানের ভাÐার। আমরা সংবাদপত্র থেকে অন্যান্য দেশের অবস্থা জানতে পারি। আসলে
এটি সমসাময়িক ইতিহাসের সারকথা। এই বৈজ্ঞানিক যুগে সংবাদপত্র ছাড়া পৃথিবীকে চিন্তা করা যায় না।
৭. Smoking is very harmful. It is expensive too. It pollutes the environment.Those who smoke cannot
live long. Smoking causes cancer,heart attack. So everyone should give up smoking.
অনুবাদ : ধূমপান মারাত্মক ক্ষতিকর। এটি ব্যয়বহুলও বটে। ধূমপান পরিবেশকে দূষিত করে। যারা ধূমপান করে
তারাবেশিদিন বাঁচে না। ধূমপান থেকে ক্যান্সার, হৃদরোগ সৃষ্টি হয়। তাই প্রত্যেকেরই ধূমপান ত্যাগ করা উচিত।
৮. You must have heard the name of Quazi Nazrul Islam. He is a famous poet. His contribution to
Bengali literature is incomparable. He is a poet of life and of youth. He is source of our inspiration.

very great. It wins love, respect and fearlesness. An honest man passes his days in respect and

patriot can sacrifice even his own life for the welfare of his country. It is idealism that gives courage
and strenght. But false patriotism makes a man narrow-minded and selfish.
N. We are living in an age of science. Science has discovered and invented many things. We use them in
our daily life for our comfort and convenience. Electricity is one of the greatest and most important
gift of science to man. Electricity has almost changed the mode of our life.
O. The newspaper is a very useful thing. At present we find many newspapers in Bangladesh.
Newspaper helps the progress of a nation. People are eager to know what is going on in the world.
They can know this and that by reading the newspaper. It gives us all sorts of news of our own land
as well as foreign lands.
P. The necessity of learning English cannot be ever-stated. English is an international language. It is
essential in our day-to-day activities. We must know English in order to go in for any job. There is
handly any situation where the employees can do without English.
Q. Bangladesh is not a very big country. But it is one of the most densely populated countries in the
world. More than one hundred and four million people live in this small country. Its population is
still on the increase. If the present rate of increase continues uncontrolled, her population will be
doubled within next twenty years.
R. A good teacher is one of the most important people in any country. Bangladesh needs good teachers.
A good teacher makes lessons interesting. He keeps pupils and students awake. He also makes them
confident and proves them clever. Everybody has something valuable in him. A good teacher
discovers the treasure hidden inside each student.
S. Computer is the new miracle of science. It can make thousand of calculations in a moment. It can
store in its memory millions of facts and figures. It can also recall them at ease. In our country the
use of computer is growing rapidly. Now a day computers are used in banks, shops, airlines, offices,
libraries, everywhere. It seems that computer is going to dominate the future civilization of man.
T. It is impossible to describe the beauty of the Taj Mahal in words. It has been called a dream in
marble’ and ‘a tear drop on the forehead of time’ but the fairest phrases fail to do justice to the
surpassing creation of art. The Taj Mahal is best seen by moonlight when the dazzling white of the
marble is mellowed into a dreamy softness. The most charming view, perhaps, is obtained from the
palace on the opposite bank of the river.
