Subordinate Clause

Subordinate Clause বাক্যের এমন একটি Clause (যার একটি subject ও একটি finite verb রয়েছে) যে নিজের অর্থ নিজেই প্রকাশ করতে সক্ষম নয়। পূর্ণ অর্থ প্রকাশ করতে তাকে principal clause এর উপর নির্ভর করতে হয়।একে dependent Clause ও বলা হয়।

Example: a) I saw the boy who was crying.

b) They know that we’ll inform them the news.

                  c) I have a ring which is made of gold.

Note: Subordinate clause কে identify করার সহজ কৌশল হল: এ clause এর শুরুতে সাধারনত  subordinate conjunction- what, when, whom, where, whose, which, who, why, how ইত্যাদি WH-Words, এবং if, as, that, till, until, no-sooner, because, so that, though ইত্যাদি থাকে।যেমন: If you come here, I shall go there. / I could not buy a computer as he did not have the required money.
