Know no bound (সীমা না থাকা)— His sorrow knew no bounds.
Loaves and fishes- ব্যক্তিগত স্বার্থ/অর্জন (personal gains)- He is not interested to his loaves and fishes only.
Lion's share (major part, মোটা অংশ)—He took the lion's share of the profit.
Liable to mislead – প্রতারণাপূর্ণ- deceptive- Appearances can often be liable to mislead.
Learn by heart (মুখস্থ করা)— He learnt the poem by heart.
Laughing stock (হাসির পাত্র)— He is a laughing stock to all.
Lose heart (হতাশ হওয়া) — Do not lose heart in danger.
Lose one’s heart (প্রেমে পড়া) — He lost his heart to the girl.
Look into something- তদন্ত করা- investigate- The manager looked into the matter.
Lump sum (এক কালীন) — He gave us lump sum money.
Lame excuse (bad plea, বাজে অজুহাত)-This lame excuse will not do.
Minutes of the meeting- written record-সভার কার্যবিবরণী বোঝায়- Let us begin by looking at the minutes of the meeting.
Maiden speech (first speech, প্রথম বক্তৃতা)—His maiden speech charmed the audience.
Man of letters (a scholar, বিদ্বান ব্যক্তি)-Dr.Yunus was a man of letters.
Man of straw (worthless man, অযোগ্য)-We do not care a man of straw like him.
Make both ends meet (live within means, দুমুঠো ভাত খাওয়া)— I cannot make both ends meet with my small income.
Moot point (an undecided matter, অমিমাংসিত বিষয়)—Dowry system is still a moot point in China.
Nouveau riche -well off-স্বচ্ছল- He was quite nouveau riche.
Nip in the bud (destroy in the initial, অংকুরে বিনাস) —All his hopes were nipped in the bud.
Null and void (invalid, বাতিল)— The deed has been null and void now.
Now and then (occasionally, মাঝে মাঝে)—He comes here now and then.
