Introduction:
A day laborer is a person who does different types of manual laborer in various fields. He is a familiar figure to all. He works hard from dawn to dusk. He is generally paid at the end of the day. He does very hard work just for getting food for himself and his family.
Their life:
A day laborer does not know what rest is. He works just like a machine. He wears torn and dirty clothes. His sadness knows no bound. But at the end of the day when he gets his wages, a hard earned smile comes on his face. Then he goes to the market, buys his daily necessaries and returns to his house. Sometimes, if he cannot manage a work, he and his family go without food.
A day laborer is an unskilled person. He works in various fields. He works outdoor and usually employed in agricultural and constructional work. Generally, a day laborer works 10 hours or more per day. He gets up early in the morning and goes out in search of work.
Life of a day laborer is very hard and miserable. His income is very low for even an average standard of living. As his earning is very poor, his children do not get proper education and his family members do not get medical facilities. In harvesting season, his work is in great demand and he can earn more. Then he can meet the bare necessaries of his life with his additional income. But in leisure period, when there is not much work for him, his conditions become worse.
Conclusion:
The life of a day laborer is full of sorrows and sufferings. He can hardly enjoy peace and happiness. In all weathers good and bad, he works hard all day long to earn his livelihood. Though the service of a day laborer is great importance, he is very much neglected. So, steps are to be taken to ensure work for this poor and important part of our population. We must not look down upon them as they are human beings just like us. We should be respectful towards them and help them financially if necessary.
