A journey by train

A journey by train
Probably one of the most beautiful and pleasant ways of journey in our country is by train. It gives the passengers a chance to enjoy the scenic beauties on the move.
The outlook of a train-station in Bangladesh has its usual ambience. Everyone always moves around busily. It is full of shouts of coolies, noise of the peddlers, announcements, blowing of trains’ whistle and hurrying of the passengers. There are also a number of beggars in the station. Although this crowd sometimes becomes very annoying but even this chaos has its own charm.
I recently went on a journey by train. It was right after my final exams came to an end. We decided to visit our relatives in our district town. My father booked four tickets for us beforehand. On the appointed day, we reached the station at 9.00 am in the morning. Our train was already at the platform. A coolie helped us with our luggage and carried it to our seats. After about half an hour the train blew its whistle and finally started with a light jerk. My heart leapt up with joy! It started moving slowly but gradually picked up its speed soon after it came out of the city.
The view outside was gorgeous. It was all green as far as my eyes could reach. There were large expanses of paddy field and so many other crops. We could see the farmers working at the fields, shepherds looking after their cattle, women washing clothes or cleaning their yards, children playing merrily and lots more. We eventually crossed a river and I could see little boats heading towards their destination and children jumping into the river. We could also see some fishermen throwing their nets into the river. These were certainly exciting for city dwellers like us.
The inside of the train was also interesting. Some passengers were dozing, some were gossiping, some were reading books or papers and some were eating from the very start and kept eating every now and then. Eating is actually a fun part of travelling. People were very friendly too. My father got a companion who was sitting in the seat right next to him. Although they never knew each other before but they talked as though they had been friends for ages!
It was a mail train so it only stopped at major stations. There were hawkers, food vendors offering their products through the windows as passengers from the new stations hurried into their compartments. All these made me very happy and excited.
At around 2 pm, we reached our destination. My aunt and cousins were already at the station waiting for us and they gave us a warm welcome. My journey by train was safe and really amazing. It was a great start to my vacation. This journey will always be alive in my mind and inspire me to travel by train again and again.
