Police officers work with communities and the public to maintain law and order. They investigate crime, gather evidence and bring offenders to court. They also work on initiatives to raise awareness and prevent crime from happening in the first place. If one wants a varied and challenging job and likes the idea of helping to make communities safer, this could be the ideal career for him/her.
Description of their job:
Police officer recruitment is handled by individual police forces, and their requirements can vary. In general you will have to be over 18 years and pass enhanced background and security checks. Most importantly, the person has to be courageous enough to put peoples’ lives over his own.
It is widely regarded that the police in any given society have a difficult job to fulfill. Dealing with criminals and placing themselves in harm’s way on a day to day basis is indeed, an admirable calling. Although seen as difficult, there is an underlying sentiment in the general public that the job of law enforcement officers is relatively straightforward. Simply put, their job is to arrest the "bad guys". However it is not as straightforward and simple as people would believe it to be. Police are faced with tough moral decisions. They are to decide when and how to act when presented with violations of the law. Police are equipped in many ways to enforce their law. They carry weapons to use if needed.
Importance:
Police officers play a vital role in our life. They provide security for us. A society without police officers would be a country without a fence. The society relies on them for security and justice.
Conclusion:
However, now a days, some policemen are corrupt and they easily trade their honesty for money. Such police officers are in fact unsafe and harmful for the people and the community. This practice must be stopped. Police officers are the real heroes of the society. And they must maintain that image and stay away from petty corruption.
