Introduction:
Bangladeshi food has inherited a large number of influences from many parts of the world. Bengal was governed by many rulers of different community. That’s how different sorts of food-culture entered in Bangladeshis’ cuisine menu. Bangladeshi cuisine is full of many different types of boiled or cooked rice, curries and desserts.
Types of food:
The people of Bangladesh normally eat what they produce in their fields such as, rice, vegetables, pulse, fruits etc. They also breed fish, chickens, cows and ducks and sell them in bazaar. So they normally like to eat edible foods like as rice, vegetables and fish and sometimes meat.
There’s a Bangladeshi saying ‘Mache-vate Bangali. The staple food of Bangladesh is rice. Boiled rice with fish curry and pulse is their favorite food. They also prepare chira(flattened rice)-muri (cereal of rice parched on hot sand) from rice. They like to eat different kinds of vegetable cooked in different kind of ways. Normally they serve food to their guests with Polao (boiled rice with spices), different kinds of dish of fishes and meat.
Bangladeshi people normally take their meal three times a day. In the afternoon, they eat light food and snacks with tea. During breakfast they like to eat homemade bread with vegetable curry or omelet. In the lunch and diner, they eat rice with fish, vegetables, pulse, meat etc.
Bangladeshis change their daily menu when it comes to celebration. On different festivals, they eat delicious food. On marriage ceremony they like to serve and eat Polao, biriani, chicken roast, beef roast, mutton curry, and vegetables and as soft drinks they drink lacchi, coke, borhani etc. As desserts they normally serve doi (curd) and sweets. If it’s a birthday party they serve light foods and snacks. A popular dish for the Pohela Boishakh festival is a traditional platter of leftover rice soaked in water with fried Hilsa, supplemented with dried fish (shutki), pickles (achar), lentils (dal), green chillies and onion.
Bangladesh is a beautiful homeland of a great variety of fruits. They are famous for their taste, flavor and sweetness. Jack fruit is the largest of all fruits. It is very juicy and tasty. Black berries, mango, litchis, banana, melons and many other juicy-fruits grow in Bangladesh.
There are many kinds of desserts Bangladeshi women make. Especially the winter season is the perfect time for making and eating these homemade desserts. They make payesh from date juice, Chitoi pi?ha, Bhapa pi?ha (steamed pitha), Puli pi?ha (dumplings), Chondro puli, Teler pi?ha (oil pitha), Pakan pi?ha, Beni pi?ha (braid pitha) etc. They also make sour curd and sweet curd from milk.Â
Conclusion:
There are different types of foods in Bangladesh which are totally dissimilar from one another from the side of taste and value. Bangladesh is rich with various types of foods which enrich their culture and make it familiar among the people of other nations in the world.Â
