Child Abuse

Introduction:
Child abuse occurs in a range of situations, for a range of reasons. Children are rarely subject to one form of abuse at a time. Adults can experience a range of psychological, emotional and social problems related to childhood abuse.

Types and causes of child abuse:
There are many forms of child abuse like emotional abuse, neglect, physical abuse, family violence, sexual abuse etc. Emotional abuse refers to the psychological and social aspects of child abuse. It is the most common form of child abuse. Many parents are emotionally abusive without being violent. This may include pressurizing a child to achieve certain goals that are more of the parent’s interests than the child’s. Often children are physically abused by parents, teachers, bullies at school etc. Some unfortunate ones are even sexually abused by pedophiles.

Effects:
Childhood is the building block of one’s life and character. Children who are abused usually become traumatized and it affects their healthy mental growth. They become scarred for life. Even if adulthood, the effects of past abuses does not leave them alone. They tend to be less confident, scared, shy and anti-social. Some even commit suicide for not being able to take such pressure in a young age. Others just grow up with the fears and traumas buried deep down their minds. Such children are sometimes prone to become criminals in their adulthood. Being exposed to abuse from a young age makes them think that it is normal to abuse someone.

Possible solutions:
Children are the future of a country. They are our assets and it is our duty to ensure their healthy mental and physical growth. We should provide them with love and support and keep controlled supervision on them to maintain and build their behavior. We should show them proper moral and legal guidance. Their education and mental growth must be taken care of. Only then, with our support, these children can grow up to be worthy human beings in the future.

Conclusion:
We are living in the age of anxiety. The situation is bad and influx, but there is hope. Not so long ago children were considered as property. Abuse may be on the rise, but awareness is increasing. People can recover from childhood abuse, and many people are working to prevent this. We all should get involved and dedicate our time and support for the little ones.
